Democracy cannot succeed unless those who express their choice are prepared to choose wisely. The real safeguard of democracy, therefore, is education.
Franklin D. Roosevelt

We learned that economic growth and environmental protection can and should go hand in hand.

Social Media

Social media is the ultimate equalizer. It gives a voice and a platform to anyone willing to engage.

Economy is the basis of society. When the economy is stable, society develops. The ideal economy combines the spiritual and the material, and the best commodities to trade in are sincerity and love.

Marianum School Fulda is a town of about 60.000 inhabitants right in the middle of Germany, not far from the former border to Eastern Germany. Marianum School is a private catholic school in the tradition of the Marianist Order. The school teaches children between the ages 10-19. Since the tuition fee is very low (less than 50€ a month), the students come from different social backgrounds. The school is separated in Middle School (ages 10-16) and Highschool (ages 16-19). Most students are catholic since the Fulda region is mainly catholic, but other faiths are also welcome. The students come directly from Fulda and from a large, mostly rural area around the city, including the biosphere reserve of the Rhoen Mountains. Marianum School is very unique in Hesse because it is the only 'Realschule' with a 'Gymnasiale Oberstufe'. That means that many students who enter the Realschule at 10 (and not the 'Gymnasium' for the best students) can, after finishing the Gymnasiale Oberstufe with the final examination, the 'Abitur', enter any German University. Usually not many students who attend the Realschule achieve this ambitious goal. Taking part in the Comenius project will give these students some extra boost for a successful completion of their studies of English on an advanced level. Our school has been having cooperations with schools in Australia, France, Russia, and Poland, and just now a new cooperation with a school in Sweden has been launched. However, most of these exchange projects are for the students at Middle School, except for the exchange with Australia, but this exchange is very expensive and not very many students can afford it. Fulda is not by the sea, however, old trading routes (the Antsanvia and the Via Regia) pass Fulda, so our city and school could be kind of a link between the other project partners, connecting the Baltic Sea with the Mediterranean and the Atlantic Ocean
